Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program

Marine EducationThe Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP) is designed to provide outstanding enlisted Marines the opportunity to become Marine Corps officers. MECEP is open to all active duty Marines and Marines in the Active Reserve (AR) program who meet the eligibility requirements. Marines successfully completing the program receive a Baccalaureate Degree and a commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Selection is based on an individual's potential for commissioned service as demonstrated by his/her service record, previous academic record, and evidence of career and academic self-improvement.

The MECEP keeps all participants on active duty, with pay, allowances, benefits and privileges, while attending college. The application deadline for the MECEP is 1 June each year, so continuing your progress towards your degree is critical while completing the application process.

Someday starts today at Columbia College.

Marines Earning DegreesColumbia College is one of a limited number of four-year institutions able to accept participants in the MECEP. Upon selection to the MECEP, participants transfer directly to the Columbia College-affiliated Naval ROTC program at the University of Missouri and attend the main Columbia College campus in Columbia, Mo. to complete their undergraduate degrees. Their current degree plan remains valid, and no transfer of credits/classes are required if they remain with Columbia College. In effect, while they are completing their application for the commissioning program, they can begin fulfilling the degree requirements necessary for commission.

Get a headstart at achieving your goals.
