Columbia College named one of fastest-growing campuses in the nation

Columbia College earned the No. 17 spot as one of the fastest-growing private nonprofit master’s institutions in the nation by The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Columbia College experienced a 113.4 percent increase from 2000-2010. In the fall of 2000 7,948 students were enrolled at Columbia College and by fall 2010 the student enrollment increased to 16,962.

“We are excited to be included in the top 20 of the fastest-growing private institutions,” said Dr. Gerald Brouder, president of Columbia College. “We realize the importance of offering diverse academic programs to accommodate students from all backgrounds. As we continue to generate more opportunities we, in turn, attract more students who are eager to participate in the many programs that Columbia College offers. This recognition only validates our mission to be a model institution.”

Founded in 1851 in Columbia, Mo., Columbia College has been helping students advance their lives through higher education for more than 160 years. As a private, nonprofit, liberal arts and sciences institution, the college takes pride in its small classes, experienced faculty and quality educational programs. With more than 30 campuses across the country, 18 of which are on military installations, students may enroll in day, evening or online classes. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
