Cougars and Lady Cougars head to nationals

(COLUMBIA, Mo.) -- Columbia College's men's and women's basketball teams both advanced to the NAIA Division 1 National Basketball Tournament, according to the official bracket released by the NAIA national office.

The Lady Cougars will square off against Campbellsville University (Ky.) at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 19 at Oman Arena in Jackson, Tenn. The Lady Cougars received an at-large bid to the tournament after finishing the season ranked 19th in the country. To celebrate, the Columbia College athletic department would like to invite fans to Loganís Roadhouse on Wednesday, March 18 for a dinner and reception with the team. The menís team received an automatic invitation by winning the American Midwest Conference postseason tournament and will be playing the Flames from Lee University (Tenn.) at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, March 19. The athletic department will be sponsoring a fan bus to the game. Please RSVP to Kim Kliegel at 875-7433 or by 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 17.
