Master of Education in Educational Leadership Degree
The Master of Education in Educational Leadership offers theoretical and practical knowledge of school leadership. The degree program includes a Principal Track and an Instructional Leader Track. Students residing in Missouri are eligible to pursue Initial Principal Certification with the Principal Track. The Principal Track of the Master of Education in Educational Leadership does not guarantee a student initial principal certification. Students who reside outside of Missouri and plan to enroll in the principal track are responsible for verifying that the program meets requirements for licensure as principal in their state.
Achievement and Proficiency will be determined through development and oral defense of a Standards-based portfolio which includes Research design, Action Research completion and the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Standards. Anticipated length of the portfolio is approximately 60 pages including artifacts which delineate standards as they are applied in the selected setting. The ISSLC Standards are adopted by The National Association of Elementary School Principals and The National Association of Secondary School Principals and are appropriate for all Leadership Tracks.
