What is Model United Nations?

Model United Nations is a simulation of the real United Nations headquartered in New York City. Each participating college or university represents one or more countries that belong to the UN. Member of each delegation role-play the views and positions of their country as they work in committees to craft agreements on a range of contemporary global issues. Delegations engage in extensive negotiation with one another to come up with resolutions that a majority of the body can support.

Why do Model UN?

If you're interested in global affairs, Model UN is a great way to learn about issues that you're concerned about, while experiencing the challenges that diplomats face when negotiating international agreements. Participating in Model UN is a great opportunity to develop your negotiating skills, public speaking ability and your understanding of other cultures. You'll also have a chance to meet and get to know students from colleges and universities from around the country.
