Columbia College-Redstone Arsenal to hold commencement ceremony Oct. 27

(Redstone Arsenal, Ala.)-Columbia College-Redstone Arsenal will confer 118 associate, bachelor's and master's degrees upon students at a commencement ceremony at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, in the Bob Jones Auditorium at the Sparkman Center.

Dr. Terry Smith, executive vice president and dean of academic affairs for Columbia College, will confer the degrees and give the commencement speech.

"For Columbia College graduates, the commencement ceremony is the culmination of their hard work and dedication to improve their lives," Smith said. "We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of each graduate on this special day."

Located on Redstone Arsenal in the Army Education Center, Columbia College-Redstone Arsenal has served adult learners in the Huntsville, Ala., area for more than 30 years.

Columbia College, founded in Missouri in 1851 as Christian Female College, was the first women's college west of the Mississippi River to be chartered by a state legislature. The college changed its name to Columbia College in 1970 when it became coeducational.

Columbia College provides accredited, affordable degrees for working adults, including military students, serving 25,000 students each year through its 32 campuses nationwide and online.
