(PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla.)- Columbia College-Patrick Air Force Base will confer 43 associate and bachelor's degrees upon graduates at a commencement ceremony at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 21, at the Satellite High School Fine Arts Theater in Satellite Beach, Fla.
Dr. Anthony Alioto, professor of history, will give the commencement address. Alioto has served as the Althea W. and John A. Schiffman chair in ethics, religious studies and philosophy at Columbia College since 2002 and is the author of two books. The degrees will be conferred by Dr. Gary Massey, associate dean for Adult Higher Education and the director of the Online Campus.
"For Columbia College graduates, the commencement ceremony is the culmination of their hard work and dedication to improve their lives," Massey said. "We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of each graduate on this special day."
Columbia College, founded in Missouri in 1851 as Christian Female College, was the first women's college west of the Mississippi River to be chartered by a state legislature. The college changed its name to Columbia College in 1970 when it became coeducational. Located on Patrick Air Force Base, Columbia College–Patrick Air Force Base was established in 1999 and continues to serve adult learners in Brevard County.
Columbia College provides accredited, affordable degrees for military students and other working adults, serving nearly 25,000 students through its Nationwide Campuses, Online Campus, Graduate Studies Program and Day Campus.
