(ROLLA, Mo.)-Columbia College-Rolla will host a Community Appreciation Day Picnic from noon - 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Columbia College-Rolla campus, located at 2303 North Bishop/Hwy. 63, Rolla. The event is free and open to the public.

The picnic is sponsored by the following Columbia College-Rolla organizations: Student Senate, Alpha Sigma Lambda national honor society and the alumni chapter. The event will feature food, games and activities for all ages, including a duck pond, cakewalk, face painting and a dunking booth.

"We are grateful for the support we receive from the Rolla community," said Leasa Richards-Mealy, Columbia College-Rolla director. "The picnic is a way for our students, faculty and staff to show their appreciation."

As part of the event, a ceremony will be held to dedicate the new flagpole outside the campus. The flagpole was donated by the family of Frieda Hawks, a Columbia College-Rolla alumna and former employee. Proceeds from a raffle held at the event will support a scholarship established in Hawks’ honor.
