Columbia College employee, Marco Tapia, named Columbia’s volunteer of the month
Columbia College’s Serving the Public Servants Coordinator Marco Tapia has been named the April 2012 Volunteer of the Month by the city of Columbia, Mo.

Prior to working for Columbia College, Tapia spent more than 30 years in law enforcement starting as a volunteer police officer with the Columbia Police Reserve Program. He continued his career with stints at the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and the Office of the National Drug Control Policy-High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Program, and he managed the Narcotics Control Programs for the state of Missouri.
Tapia received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from Columbia College, and he is currently working toward his master’s degree in criminal justice. He lives in Columbia, Mo., with his wife, Andrea, and two sons.
