Tutoring in Math

The Math Center located in the Ether L. Bruce Math Center, Missouri Hall 209, offers free tutoring for any math course numbered under 300. No appointment is needed. The Math Center is open:

Monday - Thursday: 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

SSS participants may also get math help from the Tutor/Mentor Coordinator. Call 875-7628 to make an appointment, or you may walk in. If you are taking Math 104, Math 106, or Math 150, videotapes that accompany the texts are available to be checked out overnight. SSS also has a supply of graphing calculators that will be loaned each semester. See the Tutor/Mentor Coordinator for calculators.

Tutoring in English or writing

The Writing Center, located in the Elizabeth Toomey Seabrook Writing Center, Missouri Hall 212, offers free assistance with any writing or English assignment. Call 875-7616 or 875-7614 for an appointment.

Writing Center hours:

Monday - Thursday: 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sunday: 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

Appointments are needed except during walk-in times.
Walk-in times:
Tuesdays between 1-4 p.m.
Fridays between 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.

SSS students may also get one-on-one help from a writing specialist from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday in SSS Computer Lab. No appointment is necessary.  No time to stay?  Drop off your paper in our "proofreading box".  The writing specialist will review it and make suggestions.  Pick it up at your convenience!

In addition to the above, SSS students may request tutoring in any course they are enrolled in.

Call the Tutor/Mentor Coordinator at 875-7628 to make arrangements, or complete a Tutor Request Form and leave it with any SSS advisor.
