HISTORY

Why Study History?

History is the narrative of the recorded past.  It provides knowledge about the human condition and enriches cultural literacy.  Understanding people, places, and events through time informs a sense of continuity and change.  It also cultivates the skills of research, writing, reading, speaking, analysis, critical thinking, and problem solving.

History majors acquire an education that promotes citizenship and personal enrichment while preparing them for a wide rage of professional career goals.  The History program helps to prepare majors for graduate or law school as well as public service and private sector careers.  Internship opportunities are available.
