Day Campus Prospective Students

First-class academics

We can help you decide on a program of study before you sign up for your first class. We'll even help you get into courses directly related to your field of study during your first year at Columbia College, instead of making you wait until you're a junior or senior. You can choose from nearly 30 areas of study plus pre-professional programs and graduate programs. We also offer an honors program and study abroad opportunities.

First-class professors

Our classes are intentionally small with a student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1, and we don't have teaching assistants standing between you and your college professor. Nearly 80 percent of our faculty members have attained the highest degree possible in their academic fields — so right from the start you'll learn from individuals who have the knowledge and experience it takes to transmit information to you in a meaningful way.

First-class resources

We'll offer you plenty of resources to help you succeed, including free tutorial assistance in math and writing as well as specialized study groups, easy access to science and computer labs, full Internet access to library resources and a career services center.

First-class athletics

BasketballSome small schools have a difficult time when it comes to the big leagues of college sports. But at Columbia College our nationally recognized NAIA Division I athletic teams have consistently ranked at the top of the national sports rankings.

We offer five varsity sports teams: men and women's basketball, women's volleyball, men's soccer and women's softball. We also have a strong intramural sports program for individuals who don't participate at the varsity level but still enjoy athletic competition.

First-class residence halls

We know there's no place like home. Yet the three residence halls at Columbia College offer many of the same amenities you'll find at home, plus rooms that are larger than those found at most colleges and universities.

Amenities include:

First-class location

Hanging out downtown Columbia, Missouri is a city of about 80,000 people plus nearly 30,000 college students attending one of three institutions in the area: Columbia College, Stephens College and the University of Missouri. It's no surprise this is one city that caters to its college students by offering a quirky, cool array of shops, restaurants, comedy clubs, concert halls, dance clubs, theaters and cafes. Whether you're an early morning person or late-night owl, Columbia offers something for everyone.

Considering that many of these venues are trying to appeal to the student pocketbook, it's a city that is remarkably affordable. National magazines consistently rank Columbia as a city with a low cost of living and give it high marks for safety, quality health care, educational facilities and cultural opportunities.

Columbia Is Consistently Ranked Among The "Best Places To Live In The Nation" By Money Magazine.

If you enjoy the outdoors, you won't be disappointed here. Columbia has more acres of parkland and more miles of trails per capita than any city its size in America. Plus the popular Lake of the Ozarks resort area is a little more than an hour's drive from Columbia.

First-class value

US News magazine cover Columbia College earned a top-tier ranking for the fourth consecutive year in U.S.News & World Report's 2008 edition of "America's Best Colleges."
