Baker will be responsible for all day-to-day operations of the Jacksonville, Fla., campus, including student recruitment and retention, class scheduling and faculty recruitment. He began his duties Feb. 21.
A retired Commander with more than 30 years of service in the U.S. Navy, Baker comes to Columbia College with a wealth of experience in management and higher education administration. Before joining Columbia College, he served as an academic programs manager at Nova Southeastern University and as an academic program advisor for the Navy College Office, NAS Jacksonville.
Baker earned his Master of Arts in Education and Teaching from Jacksonville University and his Bachelor of Science in Education from Southern Illinois University.
"We are very pleased to welcome Pete to his new position with Columbia College," said Mike Randerson, associate vice president and dean for the Extended Studies Division at Columbia College. "His experience in the areas of higher education administration and management will ensure the continued success and growth of the Jacksonville campus."
Columbia College began serving the higher education needs of the Jacksonville area in 1990, and today continues to serve civilian and military adult learners in the area.
Nationwide, Columbia College serves more than of 20,000 students each year at its Day Campus, Evening Campus, Online Campus, Graduate Studies Program and 30 extended campuses.
