What is the deadline to apply for admissions?

Columbia College considers applications for admission on a rolling basis! International students are encouraged to apply well in advance of the beginning of the semester. Keep in mind the U S. Consulates and embassies have varying processing times.

Can I apply online?

Do I need a TOEFL score for admissions? If so, what is the required score?

To study in the English as a Second Language program (ESL), it is not necessary for you to submit a TOEFL score. Columbia College does not offer beginning level ESL. If you have taken the TOEFL, please request an official copy to be sent to Columbia College.

To be considered for admission to an academic program, you will need to take the TOEFL and request an official score be sent to Columbia College. Our TOFEL code is 6095. For more information on the TOFEL and how to register for the exam, please visit http://www.toefl.org.

How can I transfer to Columbia College?

In order to transfer to Columbia College international students must complete the application for admission and submit additional materials including the transfer eligibility form. Please see the Admissions information for more details.

How and when can I get an I-20?

An I-20 form will be issued to you once the application for admission and supporting documents have been received and approved. The I-20 form is sent in the acceptance packet.

Where is Missouri? What is the climate like?

Missouri is located in the center of the United States. Missouri enjoys four seasons with temperatures varying from 35 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit (2 to 32 degrees Celcius).

Do you offer financial assistance for International students?

Yes. There are a variety of scholarships and awards available to undergraduate international applicants. Awards range from several hundred U.S. dollars to full tuition. See the Financial Aid page for award requirements and how to apply for financial assistance.

Can I live on campus?

Columbia College offers residential living with a variety of amenities. If you would like to find out more about residential life.

Do you offer graduate studies for an International student?

We offer the following graduate programs: Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Science in Criminal Justice (MSCJ). If you would like more information regarding our master's programs, go to Graduate Studies.

Can I work on campus?

Upon arrival at Columbia College, you are eligible for on-campus employment. International students may work up to 20 hours per week when school is in session and 40 hours per week during breaks and holidays. The number of on-campus jobs is limited and is not guaranteed.

Is Columbia College accredited?

Columbia College is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association and holds specialized accreditation in its Education, Nursing and Social Work programs. The college was recently reviewed for reaccreditations. The commissioning team concluded their visit with positive remarks and recommendation for the maximum reaccreditation of ten years.

What is the difference between a college and a university?

In some countries, "college" is defined as a secondary school. In the United States, however, college is always defined as an institution of higher education beyond high school. Universities are usually larger than colleges, but both are institutions of higher education. The principal role of faculty at a college is to teach. At most universities, faculty must divide their time between teaching and research. At Columbia College, the emphasis is on students rather than on the research laboratory.

What is SEVIS and how will affect me?

SEVIS stands for the Student Exchange and Visitor Information System. The program has been initiated by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to electronically track international students pursuing academic or vocational programs in the United States. Under SEVIS, specific information about each international student must be reported to the ICE within a designated timeframe. Download the SEVIS formPDF document here.

How do I obtain my student visa?

Contact the nearest embassy or consulate once you have received your Columbia College acceptance packet. A list of embassies and consulates may be found at http://usembassy.state.gov/. The I-20 form, a current passport, your Columbia College acceptance letter, and financial documents will be required to obtain a visa. Contact the nearest embassy or consulate for additional required information.
