Dual Enrollment: Earn college credit while you’re still in high school!
Complete a Dual Enrollment class with Columbia College
Dual Enrollment (DE) is when you are enrolled in high school and Columbia College at the same time. You take college-level classes with us and earn academic credit that can be applied toward a college degree later. Here are just a few reasons why you should consider completing a DE class with Columbia College:
Graduate from college faster
The credit you earn as a DE student could help you graduate from college faster. In fact, when you start college, you could already have lots of college credit in the bank!
Every DE class with Columbia College is just $75 per credit hour, saving you hundreds of dollars on each class. Please note that federal financial aid is not available for dual enrollment students.
Transfer credits to other colleges
Columbia College is a regionally accredited school, and so any credits you accrue through a DE class may transfer to other colleges (though we hope you’ll stay with us of course!) Remember that acceptance of transfer credit is at the discretion of the receiving institution and can’t be guaranteed.
Fit DE classes around your high school schedule
You can take dual enrollment classes online, anytime, anywhere, or in the evening at any of our locations across the country. These classes start six times each year and last for eight weeks. DE students can also take daytime classes on a 16-week long semester basis at the main campus in Columbia, Missouri.
Go beyond high school
If you’ve already taken all the classes offered in a specific area at your high school, dual enrollment allows you to continue your learning at the college level.
You’ll also be able to use the Columbia College library (online and at our main campus in Columbia, Missouri) and will get free access to all home Cougar athletic events in Columbia.
Apply as a Dual Enrollment student
- Complete the application form. Be sure to select “non-degree/HS dual enrollment” on the student status field.
- Download the permission form and arrange for it to be signed by the appropriate people.
