Columbia College in the media

Columbia College has been ranked the No. 2 private school in the greater Kansas City area (Kan. and Mo.) based on fall 2008 undergraduate enrolment by Ingram’s, a KC-based business magazine

The surprising No. 8 Cougars soccer team and its players have been featured in multiple local and statewide media outlets as a smashingly successful season draws to a close in several Columbia Daily Tribune articles and the Columbia Missourian.

President Brouder appeared on the 102.3 BXR morning show n early October to talk about the Free the Cougar Boone County Endowed Scholarship event and the college in general.

Dr. Anthony Alioto, Schiffman Chair in Ethics, Religious Studies and Philosophy and history professor, appeared on the KFRU 1400 AM David Lile morning show to talk about the Robert Wright lecture.

Dr. Brad Lookingbill, department chair and professor of history, was interviewed by
"Dakota Midday"
on South Dakota Public Radio for on Lookingbill's book, War Dance at Fort Marion: Plains Indian War Prisoners. He also recently spoke at a luncheon of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Kansas City on "The Indian War of 1812 in the Missouri Territory."

Columbia College presents
Michael Kateman, executive director of Development, Alumni and Public Relations and Brendon Steenbergen, director of development for annual and planned giving, presented results from 1999 and 2009 surveys on how the country’s top 40 fund-raising organizations encouraged people to make planned gifts. The presentation was given at the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning’s annual meeting and was featured in The Chronicle of Philanthropy.

Nollie Moore, director of the Jane Froman Singers, instructor of music and moonlighting theatrical director, was featured in a Columbia Missourian article on Dr. Seuss' environmental classic The Lorax, performed by the Columbia College Elysium Players.

Mike Sleadd, art chair, will be exhibiting at the Perlow-Stevens Gallery, 812 East Broadway, Columbia, Mo., from Nov. 3 to Dec. 27; and in the Art St. Louis XXV exhibition from Nov. 9 to Dec. 28, 2009.

Tim Tesar, coordinator of international and graduate admissions, was featured in the
Columbia Daily Tribune
on an upcoming recruiting tour through Asia. ("Where’s Missouri?" is a frequent question, he says.)

Britta L. Wright, director of International Programs, co-presented "Becoming an Advocate for International Education" at a Rochester, Minn., NAFSA Association of International Educators conference. Her co-presenter was John Wilkerson of the University of Missouri. Why does that name sound familiar?
