Elgin campus holds successful career fair.
"As an educational institution, the main goal of people going after degrees is to get started in a career," Patrick Snyder, community and alumni relations coordinator at Columbia College of Missouri-Elgin, told a reporter at the Gurnee Life newspaper. “We want to make sure students at Columbia can get jobs, and we want to be a good partner to the community.”
Snyder, along with campus director Lyndon Russell, was instrumental in organizing a career fair for students and area residents on March 21. The agenda included workshops that explored topics such as job markets, interview prep and setting oneself apart from the competition.
Companies such as Verizon Wireless, Six Flags Great America, Baxter, Lake County Health Department, Key Lime Cove and the Great Lakes Credit Union had representatives on hand to answer questions. "The heart of the whole thing is to add value to the citizens of Lake County by gathering up these companies," Snyder says.
