The 2012 United Way campaign comes to a close.
Thanks to all who supported this year’s Heart of Missouri United Way campaign. Columbia College beat its goal of $22,222 by nearly $2,000 and raised $24,165.46.
Opportunities to contribute included:
Dessert Bake Off: Faculty and staff entered their homemade pies, cakes, cup cakes and cookies in the Oct. 16 Dessert Bake Off in Dorsey Gym for a chance to win bragging rights and a 10-meal punch card to Dulany. More than $390 was raised, and winners included:
- Cake category (and overall winner): Stefanie McCollum, Ooey gooey butter cake
- Pie category: Stacey Bybee, Apple wrapper with caramel drizzle
- Cookie category: Martha Arnold, Whoopie pies
- Cupcake category: Kelly Sharp, Caramel apple cupcakes
- Participant winner: Gary Stanowski
Fitness Center Locker Silent Auction: Who wants to tote workout gear to and from the gym? Not Ernie Wren or Whitney Dreier, who won the men’s and women’s United Way lockers for the entire 2013 year.
50/50 Raffle: Stephen Bay spent a little to earn a lot. He purchased a 50/50 ticket for $2 and won $125 ($125 also went toward the CC United Way campaign).
Jean Fridays: Eighty-one people participated in Jean Fridays, including 100 percent (12 people) of the Marketing Department. Participants paid $25 to wear jeans to work for five consecutive Fridays; photos were taken of some denim-wearers on Oct. 12 on the steps of St. Clair Hall.
Pick Your Spot Parking Raffle: Back by popular demand, for a minimum of $2, you could enter a drawing to select your own parking spot. Two winners, one for Main Campus and one for the Federal Building, were chosen for each month beginning in January 2013. Congratulations to all the winners:
