David Opdycke re-elected
David Opdycke, campus admissions manager, Columbia College-Jacksonville has been reelected to the Board of the First Coast Higher Education Alliance

Opdycke was re-elected to serve as the “Director of Marketing and Public Relations” for FCHEA during the 2012-2013 academic year. The organization is very active in the Jacksonville metropolitan area promoting higher education opportunities to adults through outreach programs and education fairs.

Kemp makes presentation
Kalah Kemp, academic advisor at Columbia College-Springfield, will present at the Missouri Academic Advising Association Conference (MACADA) September 6-7 at Camden on the Lake, Lake Ozark.

“Training New Advisors: Guidelines for Communicating with Students,” is the topic of her presentation. While most training focuses on policies and procedures, Kemp’s presentation emphasizes the unwritten rules of advising and "best practices in communicating with students. Kemp also discusses tips and training methods for new advisors to reach students through emails, phone calls and face-to-face appointments.

MACADA is an organization that supports the development and professional growth of academic advisors in Missouri.
