Buffalo Soldiers honored

One of Columbia College, Kansas City’s adjunct faculty, Carlton Philpot, is currently the chairman of the Buffalo Soldier Monument Committee. The 20th anniversary commemoration of the monument’s establishment took place at Fort Leavenworth, KS in August. A bust of the 10th Cavalry's longtime commander, Brig. Gen. Benjamin Grierson, was unveiled during the ceremony. A few remaining members of the 10th Calvary were present, as well as half a dozen of the original Tuskegee Airmen.
