Relay for Life garage sale

Relay for Life garage sale

The college’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life Team is holding its annual Fall Garage Sale Saturday, September 29. The event takes place rain or shine on the 10th Street and Rogers parking lot from 7:00-2:00.

According to Eric Cunningham, the team has hosted approximately 20 sales over the years. “We’ve sold one of almost anything you can imagine,” he said. “I think our Clothes World operation is fairly novel. We handle huge amounts of used clothing but we don’t have time to individually price items. Our Team members sort items by type, shirts, pants, kids clothes etc. Then we sell them for $3-4 dollars for an all-you-can-stuff into a standard plastic bag.”

Since they don’t have price stickers on items, volunteers are free to wheel and deal right on the spot. “Sonda Ridgway in AHE is one of our most gifted ‘cashiers,’ said Cunningham. “She can usually cajole buyers to ‘round-up’ the amount of their purchase because the fight against cancer is such a great cause.”

If you have items that you would like to donate, you can email Cunningham at ercunningham@ccis.edu or call extension 7649. Relay for Life Team members will even pick up large items or large quantities of items at your home.
