June 2012Summer construction
Summer around Columbia College means Bob Hutton's crew is busy making sure we’re ready for the coming year. This summer alone, several big projects are underway:
HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) work was underway the latter part of May. On Monday, June 4, work will begin for a new cooling tower. Starting as soon as Tuesday, June 5, the parking area north of MPS will be part of the construction area. Please use caution and alternate paths to avoid the area.
As part of the Dorsey Gym remodeling, waterproofing the foundation of Dorsey is well underway. Off and on, the lower breezeway between St. Clair Hall and Dorsey Hall has been and will continue to be closed. East/west passage will be limited to short periods; north/south passage will be closed for approximately eight weeks.
As part of the HVAC improvements, a cooling tower will be installed and there will be some digging that will occur on the west side of the ADA parking area outside MPS, and will extend westward toward Dulany. This work will close some sidewalk access from Launer to Dulany so please use caution and alternate routes.
