Alpha Chi honor society

Compton elected VP, students demonstrate their intelligence.

Dr. Tonia Compton, assistant professor of history, has been elected vice president of Region IV for Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, reserved for the top 10 percent of an institution’s juniors, seniors and graduate students.

Compton is also faculty rep for the Columbia College Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Compton and three students also represented the Missouri Epsilon chapter at the super-regional convention of Alpha Chi in in Baltimore, Md., in late March: Jeffrey Barringer, Ambima Buzhyason (aka "Hammer," chapter president) and Courtney Jorgenson presented papers: “Chocolate: A Bittersweet Truth,”  “An Analysis of Friedrich Nietzsche’s Declaration of the Death of God” and “Objectification and Misrepresentation of Female Athletes in Sports Illustrated,” respectively. Buzhyason also served as the chapter’s student voting delegate to the convention.
